Our workforce

We cannot offer the service that we provide without keeping our engineers fully trained not just to the legally required level but to the level that our customers expect. Of course knowing how to do the job at hand is only part of the package. Our engineers don't use technical jargon to confuse you, they state the facts and nothing more. All of our engineers are fully insured for your piece of mind.

Standards we work to

We work under a strict code of practice, encompassing many governing bodies with our own quality control and working practices.

Of course like most businesses we always work to the required standards such as Health and Safety etc, but we also work under the following specific practices to our industry:

Gas Safe

Oftec

Building control

Energy conservation

Gas Safe

As from 1st April 2009 Corgi were no longer the governing body for gas, the new governing body is the Gas Safe Register. By law, you must be on the Gas Safe Register to carry out gas work in Great Britain and the Isle of Man.

Corgi registered engineersOur Gas Safe number is 215085 and you can check our credentials here

If you are out of our coverage area or you are currently using a different engineer / business for your central heating and gas needs please check to see if they are Corgi registered - for you own safety!

If you want to find out more about the Gas Safe Register please visit their web site: Gas Safe Register

Building control

Many of the regulations that come under Building Control are also governed by Corgi and Oftec. When dealing with a gas and oil appliance or boiler you are usually required to notify your local council before work commences. You will then receive a visit to check that the work completed is to the required standard. However because we are both Corgi and Oftec registered we can self-certify our own work and notify either Corgi or Oftec on your behalf. You will then receive a certificate to confirm that the appliance or boiler that has been installed meets the relevant building regulation requirements. You must keep this in a safe place as you will need it when the Home Buyers Pack becomes mandatory in June 2007.

Boiler efficiencyBoiler energy efficiency

From 1 April 2005 it has become a mandatory requirement that all new gas boilers installed must be of a condensing type and be of a rating A (greater than 90% efficiency) or B (between 86%-90% efficiency). Also from 1 April 2007 the same change will also be made to oil fired boilers. Although higher efficiency boilers do cost slightly more than conventional boilers, the increased efficiency means more money in your pocket each month and less impact on the environment. To read more about boiler efficiency and building control please read more in our information page.

Energy conservation

Energy conservation is important to us and we try to incorporate energy efficiency in all aspects of our work. At the heart of your central heating your boiler must be up to the job of providing enough heat for you needs. Therefore as well as following the regulations regarding boiler efficiency we will always size your boiler to be the most efficient for your needs. We also make sure that we supply and fit central heating controls that are not only as efficient as possible but also easy to operate. We also supply and fit flueless gas fires which are 100% efficient; these can be purchased through our online shop.

Energy efficiency

Our engineers have been trained in energy efficiency and have passed the Energy Efficiency Installer Training Course enabling us to confidently recommend and work on any energy efficient appliance or boiler.
